- Nothing usual I got and feeling bored. Well... Not really. When I have
the archive about those forgotten or "lost" mods of Quake 3. I studied
them what they have to offer and some of them looks like from pre 1.32
versions. I tried to load up on the latest version and ended up not
loading the game. Only just showed black screen, but sounds were heard
and could open console. Jeez, it just showed log of errors when I tried
to launch "Matchmod 2000". Assuming from it's readme file, it's meant to
be swiss knife and "kickass" features. Whatever it means. It has suppose
to be big variety for gamemodes such as "Last man Standing DM", "Weapons
Arena", "Hunter/Hunted", "Solaris" and some runes, options, etc.
Something these modes are probably interesting to try, but I wonder if
it's possible to "update" these ancient and forgotten mods on current
version of Quake 3 Arena. Looking at these mods, surely looks like
interesting, but extremely hard to find them on surface internet. I
think I wrote down (or maybe not) about when I tried out the "Classic
CTF". Which I assume that was attempt to convert 3wave into Q3A.
Surpsingly, it works on latest 1.32 version on it! This type of
threewave is quite interesting. Some of the gameplay mechanics are
ported from Q2, like "Power shield", "Breather" and as well armor
system. Interesting. When I tried them out myself, this looks
interesting to see fans converting Q2 mechanics in Q3. Also, runes are
same how they behaved on Q2 Capture the Flag mod. Only difference models
are lot detailed with giving more visual explanation. Is there like some
forums about forgotten or long lost mods to share? I would like to show
and ask to play with me for trying them out. 12.07.2026 - Oh dear. It looks like a bit grim news to see. Microsoft just laid a huge majority of developers from Id Software. And it's just ridiculous. A lot of veterans and new blood got laid from Microsoft's stupid decision. And that also includes who worked on Quake! One of them was Syncerror, Adam Pyle. He was map designer back in the Quake Live era, when it was F2P and also moderator. Not only that, but also pillar of the Quake community, even maintained Quake Champions. But unfortunately, he was one included in the list. There's also frustrated comments from former employees who worked in Id, which is also legendary programmer John Carmack commented on this decision. Honestly, I'm quite shocked to see this news after layoff the powerhouse company who made great game engines. Even in the past Call of Duty used Quake 3 engine for almost like 17 years. Fans of Id Software are worried and furious to see these news, which is also insane. Some people like me speculated, that Microsoft will force Id Software to use Unreal Engine. Like seriously, why the hell can't just Microsoft use Id's domestic engine, Id Tech at their disposal?! Not only it maintained by dedicated and passionate devs, it would be a complete waste leaving this engine. I even wished Id to be indie, despite they earn great profits to modern Doom trilogy. Even though, it's a hopeless wish, but I wish them to be independent so they would retain all of their IPs. 16.07.2026 - So I decided to check out the 'dvd3000.ca' about what that owner has to say, but apperantly I can't find it anymore. Sad news is that, he is not hosting and I don't know where he is. About last year, I remember I wrote down my thought when I came in to see what it has. But unfortunately, it's a generic casino site. Goddamnit, I enjoyed that site to explore and study how that guy made it fascinating. That's just bummer and I used to sit in there, because it looked cool thanks to aesthetics. Now that I'm feeling slightly sad, that site is not hosted anymore. I assume that it got saved on internet archive, but where else are you suppose to find niche stuff? Jesus, I'm really hating how internet becomes more monopolized. It's like companies have Midas's touch of crap. Anything it touches, goes to the worst quality. 24.07.2026 - Looks like the original Quake will be 30 years old and it's birthday is on sunday. 26 july. And... I don't know how am I suppose to celebrate it. Plus I wanted to visit the GBX festival, but I decided to rather skip and stick to the countryside. I wanted to accompany with clan leader to celebrate it. Which is sucks, but oh well. Also I noticed that the entire summer in Russia is cold and it's usually suppose to be hot in the middle of the summer, yet it's not. I'm probably feeling like said that summer would be warmest. Seriously, why's the weather feels more colder and warmer? I thought summer suppose to be hot and yet. Only lasted like week and that's it. Oh well, at least I'll take it with this weather and I hope the nights will be normal after this crap I had to endure. 27.07.2026 - Aaaand Quake is officially 30 years old. Well it had birthday yesterday. Didn't noticed how fast time went fast and looks like my clanmates went in GBX and seems like won for the participation, which is nice. So, uh... I don't know else to add, but I'm trying to experiement with dividers. Looking to see if I can fit it with my page. So, from my exploration I noticed that canadian site I found had some hefty stuff such as official backgrounds for all Windows and I think maybe also about Apple's Mac OS? He really had some goods in his site, before it's gone. Why I can't find some of these passionate and fascinating sites on the browser and internet? Why is now become extremely rare to find these webpages on 2026? Ugh... It just pisses me off and you'll have to look on the web hosting sites as it has rare but extremely passionate websites like on Neocities. But that's not enough and I don't know where are the better odds to find something unique. |
