Personal thoughts. The diary or just a blog of my thoughts. |

- Oh great. Tomorrow is gonna be hot weather and I was about to
say that I'm feeling happy to have cold weather. I hope that heat won't
be that long, so I don't have to sleep in the heat weather. Anyway. I
was examining the old sites and made me thinking about design. How did
it go from GameSpy era and Planet Games from IGN to some bland and
boring solid colors? Why? What's so appealing to look those stupid
single colors? Where's the variety and personality of them? It's just
repulses me to look at those designs we have in modern internet. Which
is infuriating to see them like this. Honestly, I'm glad that I'm born
in the great era of internet. Flash games were absolute blessing in my
childhood and I enjoyed playing them a lot! These flash games websites
also had personality depending on which you'll visit. Smooth, geometric,
stylish, cozy and even more pleasant to watch! I remember there
was some sort of mascot of one flash site. It was a blue alien or was it
a dinosaur on 2 legs. And depends on which category of flash you want,
it'll swap animation. Such as if you watch movies. It'll sit on the
armchair and eat popcorn. Hopefully people who are reading my diary will
understand what I mean. There's also Newgrounds, which is still going
strong and it's quite impressive that some of the artists in that site
are recruited as game devs or actors. Oh and I remember there was
another community website for Quake called "QuakeUnity". I remember I
used to scavenge some good maps, mods and skins before it's completly
gone. It served as news, tournament announcement and also downloads to
stuff. Design maybe not that interesting, at least it had some homely
vibes. I'm grateful for the Internet Archive with their quest to
preserve every major stuff, besides just books, movies, music and etc.
Watching old websites became like my hobby to study on them. Wish there
were popularity of sites made in pleasant and appealing design from late
90s and early 2000s. Those were good ones. 22.07.2025 - Feeling bored and I've got nothing to add something in my webpage, except writing down my thoughts. It's just I'm temporarily suffering from creativity crisis (if that's thing). Like I feel lazy and I don't have any idea what to do next. I've explored enough on various old sites and I don't have anything to say. Although, I'm planning to get the "Dreamweaver MX 2004", which was also I think a secondary webpage constructor like Microsoft's Frontpage and I might will try it out in the future. I'll just grab one from the Internet Archive and I'll see if I can install in some time. But right now, I'll continue to use Frontpage as my main site constructor. I still need to expand my site and try to optimize for better view. But I wonder what can I add for the right side of my "Thoughts" section? 30.07.2025 - 4 days ago, I participated in the tourney in the convention dedicated to retro games. And that game was "Unreal Tournament 99". That was awesome and it had a huge crowd to see people queuing. And that was incredible view to see people queuing. Last year, when I participated in the tourney for "Quake 3 Arena". It only had small amount of people queuing for game last year . But in "Unreal Tournament 99", I won 2nd place. Do I feel satisfied? Absolutely. Minor complaint is that mouses for these old PCs were annoying. Couldn't aim well, sometimes couldn't track to the enemy while I was playing and I did my best to adapt from it. Still, winning is still enough to feel proud. I don't feel motivated to tinker to my site. Even I won for the tourney. Man, I really, really want to do something to my page, but I don't have any motivation to edit my page. I just hope it kicks in and force me to do stuff. |
